Thank you very much indeed and just to confirm we had a most wonderful holiday and would highly recommend the Dunas Paraiso Hotel in Tenerife. It was top class and what excellent value for money. The food at every single meal was just amazing (even if the hot food could be a little warmer at times) and what a selection to choose from - 2-3 different fish dishes - one fish variety always cooked fresh in front of you on a griddle, several hot and cold meats, wonderful salads with a great selection of healthy options, lovely desserts. All in all we couldnt fault anything really - the place was spotlessly clean, staff friendly and helpful, but I suppose the fact that we had such lovely weather with blue skies every day while there was a major storm at home did help! The only minor complaints we had was the evening entertainment in the hotel was very boring - just a guy playing music - totally dull and lack lustre!! and the courtesy bus service was very poor and only operated in the mornings only into Playa de las Americas and back from there in the afternoons - this could definitely be improved - taxi costs around 13 euro one way and EUR30 from airport to hotel.

A great hotel,particularly for older people (away from the crowds associated with Las Amaricas).

We were allocated a suite in Block A, overlooking the sea,and of exceptional size and quality (two toilets plus separate shower),just fabulous.
Food(all inclusive) was very good with Chinese and Italian alternating in a separate restaurant of an evening (buffet style).
Pool, two in number,spotless with lower situated facility more suited to families--a bit noisy. Top pool well away from this noise.
Courtesy bus to Las Americas , on the hour beween 10am and 12 noon.
Counting the days to our return.

There is always something for you to do as the animation team are excellent working through the day & evening. They take care of the kids and the adults too!

Ignore any bad comments. The Hotel is well worth a visit.
We went out for the Feb 08 Half term and am wiating for flights to book for next feb again!

the swiming pool was very big and clean
the kids club was ok.
the staff a the reception and waiters in the restaurant were very rude and short.
the food was just ok kids menu very poor
and after 3 days we ate out for dinner ,we had a hire car.
would i go back (no) because
1.there was no beach
2.miles away from every thing
3.we had seven cockroachs in our room over or stay.
but over all the hotel is nice
it was just not for us.

If you decide to eat out then go to the CASABLANCA RESTAURANT in Paraiso, excellent food and service.

WE stayed here in late Jan and beginning of Feb. My wife & I had a wonderful time . I work in the hotel trade so it was a busmans holiday for me but it was fist class all the way.

The hotel is very clean & spacious. The room had a mountain view so in the morning throwing back the curtains and being greeted by the sun (always shining) and Mt Teide was something to wake you up in the morning. Our room was situated just above the main front door where the buses, cars, taxis arrived to pick up arriving & departing guests - and you know what - we never heard any excesive noise.

I must ask those who criticize the food ie it wasnt Kellogs or it wasnt British pork & beef sausages - if you want British food on your holiday stay in Britain. The food was good with a wide selection for all tastes. There was always freshly cooked foor on the griddle for lunch & dinner with a wide array of salads and breads. For those that moan about the place being busy at the beginning of service and having to queue all I can say is that this will always be the case where you have an hotel which is All Inc. Thats the reason we never went down before 8.30pm at night. We used the Italian and Chinese restaurants and found them to be quiet but with good food.

The Pool Bar was always busy but you could watch and see when the queues were dwindling then go to the bar. The selection of drinks was the standard but I must admit as a Scotsman I say some wonderfully named brands of whisky that I hadnt heard of. I must admit the qualkity of the draught wine was poor and the red wine chilled but that was the only thing I have to say poor about the beverage side. It was good to see No Smoking in the restaurants too.

On the entertainment side of things I have to say that Andreas and her team put on good stuff. Janny was also a great guy and they helped all who participated in sporting events, whether it was 5 a side, darts, petanque, shooting etc, to enjoy the fun. We had great times in the pool with the water polo and water volleyball but I must say that Andreas's refereeing was as bizarre as we see weekly on telly. I have to say that I was sent to the sin bin myself !!! The evening entertainment was all good clean fun and nothing that would scare anyone apart from the varied selections of snakes that one of the entertainers kept puling out of his box.

On the accommodation side of things we had no complaints. The rooms were kept clean and the housemaids were very good. The bedlinen was changed 3 times during our stay so I cant compain about that.

There are shops, British pubs etc about half a mile from the hotel so there is something to do.

Overall we had a great time as our intention was do do nothing and thats what we did. We have already recommended the hotel to others and will continue to do so.

Just come back from a week in February at the Dunas Paraiso. Very friendly and clean hotel with many different European guests, Brits in the minority. The hotel is in a very quiet area with very few places to visit locally. We like to walk and there is only one way to walk up one hill round the corner and up another hill! The coast line is very rocky, no beach. The hotel was not full but the pool area and restaurant were very busy. I can forsee problems in the high season. The food was typical of Spanish hotels but was reasonable. Entertainment was lacking for the older guest unless you like dancing to the organ medley's each evening. Lots of children around as it was half term week. We enjoyed our stay but a week was certainly enough,

have just came back from dunas paraiso today i have read the reviews and one give so many negative points i had to write in and give my review after 10 days there.There is some things that could be worked on but on the whole we had a really enjoyable holiday. The food sometimes was cold but plently to choose from and we could always get table we didnt have to queue for longer than a few seconds except for coffee machine which was nice by the way not awful.Children really enjoyed entertainment and the entertainers. I think some people are too fussy i have been to other hotels and all inclusive hotels and dunas paraiso one of the nicest. By the way rooms are massive we stayed in a villa with two bedrooms and two bathrooms it was great to have plenty of room especially with two kids. Only thing i will say we got a hire car well worth it has there is nothing in playa paraiso but not that far in taxi to main resort.

The restaurant food is very good - it could be a shade warmer but microwaves are provided if necessary. Lunch and dinner are quite similar. The choice is excellent; there is an international flavour although guests from the UK are well catered for. There is a great array of meats -some with sauce, some without - and fish dishes plus salad. Steak was served two days running at lunch and this along with some other meats and fish is cooked on a griddle in front of you so it can be cooked exactly as you require.

Vegetables were perhaps a little short but that is being very picky. Starters include cold meats, soup, breads, etc and desserts are mainly fruit - some tinned, some fresh - plus ice cream and a variety of other selections comprising a combination of chocolate, fondant and cake!!

Breakfast also offers a wide choice. There were plenty of cereals from Corn Flakes to Coco Pops (but probably not Kelloggs!), cold meats, fruit, yogurts, hot food - scrambled eggs, fried eggs (cooked on the griddle in front of you), bacon, sausage, beans, potato-based dishes, muffins, doughnuts, bread rolls and lots of jams and spreads. Overall, it seemed that every taste had been catered for including diabetics and wheat intolerant guests too.

The restaurant operates on a buffet basis which means you can pile your plate with whatever you want. The "free" wine is not vintage but reasonable for all inclusive. The beer was draught San Miguel and there is pop - e.g. 7 Up, Pepsi - plus water available too. Note that drinks in the restaurant are served in glasses not the paper cups which are only used outside, presumably for safety reasons.

The outside bar is open from 10.30 to 23.00 with drinks - hot and cold - available throughout these times plus snacks, ice creams and cakes at selected times.

We stayed in a suite with a sea view - which we paid extra for - and found it to be extremely comfortable with two sun loungers on the balcony. We were glad we had spent the extra money. The suite was very spacious for two people, however, there is no kettle so if you want to make a cup of tea or coffee in your room you will need to bring your own or use the microwave.

The thing that impressed us about this hotel was the efficient manner in which it was run and cheerful attitude of the staff. Virtually all staff were friendly - perhaps using a few basic words in their language helps.

It is a little isolated so if you are staying for any length of time you may need to hire a car or book a trip or two. Also, there is no real nightlife in the area so it will not suit if you are planning a few late nights.

In conclusion, we had been concerned about some of the previous negative comments about this hotel. We can only conclude that either the previous concerns have now been addressed or that perhaps some guests have unrealistic expectations. This is an excellent hotel - public areas are spotless, it is well run and the choice of food is wide-ranging and food provided of good quality. We would like to return at a future date and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

We had stayed at a lovely Dunas hotel in Las Palmas last year, so had great expectations.

This was an "all-inclusive" and it really was worth it - it cost almost the same as last year´s accommodation + breakfast only!

The lounges were spectacular, but I was a bit disappointed as our room was not on the sunny side as I had asked for. I do realize they had NOT guaranteed it. And, later on, they offered to move us when I mentioned it, but we were happy to stay where we were - easy access to the lifts plus everywhere else.

We had a "larger room" - it was almost ridiculous as it was TWO large rooms, the size of our apartment back home!! A living room with TV and french doors to the large balcony, and a large bed room with ditto. Also a large bathroom PLUS another smaller one!

We had paid for partial sea view (the choices were view to pool, mountains or partial sea view) and indeed saw the sea. But, our view was mostly to a banana plantation. Not that I complain though.

The first night, we arrived late and sweated like pigs as the air conditioning did not work properly. Also, the shower was partially blocked, and the thingy in the basin was stuck so water would not flow off it.

However, two guys arrived within 2 hours to fix everything. The shower was not completely ok even afterwards, wonder if there was sand there or...?

I am sorry to say I do not find the food on Canary Islands very good, you would expect it to be hot, spicy, bit African, but I find it bland.

Still, there was a good selection in the restaurant every day. The "ethnical restaurant" - Italian / Chinese - was rubbish though.

Thank God for red spicy Canarian sauce you can put on everything to make it taste great!

The ingredients were great, fillets of everything, duck, great fish, but it was all just quickly cooked without spices.

I DID love all the fresh fruit and the desserts though.

It was perfect for a week´s relaxing. We only traveled as far as the pool + sun beds, and the restaurants. No I tell a lie, I walked to a close-by supermarket one day to buy lots of water.

You really do not have to leave for anything. Just enjoy the sun and the great view to the sea from the pool.

Seemed very safe + secure area, too.

There seemed to be rich older people and a couple of families with kids, no young people really.

We had looked for a quiet, relaxing place after a difficult year, and this fit the bill exactly.

I would not mind going back any day.

IF you want hectic night-life and shopping, this is not for you. If you want to soak in the sun in a relaxed atmosphere, what are you waiting for, make your reservation already!

This is an excellent hotel and my family (husband, sons, 20 and 21, and daughter 22) all enjoyed it. Before going the travel agent wrote to us to warn about a new hotel being built in front of the hotel, but this cant be seen or heard from the majority of rooms, and is nowhere near the pool area, so you are not disturbed when sunbathing. The food... having read some bad reports about the food, i have to say, what a bunch of moaners! whilst the food might not always have been piping hot, it was warm and the quanity, quality and sheer variety (there were tonnes of dishes) was really impressive. The only unusual thing was that there was an option to dine in the chinese/italian restaurant at the sea front, and you had to book a day in advance for this, which was completely unneccessary as it was mostly empty. cant think why they just didnt throw it open. Still the food was nice and it was free too. The rooms and cleanliness.... we had the standard rooms which consisted of spacious living room with balcony and equally spacious bedroom, there were two bathrooms and a small kitchennette with fridge, microwave and coffee maker (tho no coffee). the cleanliness was outstanding and the beds were quite comfortable. the only down side was with the third bed provided in the room in which three were sleeping, it was a fold away and was a bit ricketty and i was surprised, considering everything else was first rate. but there was a comfy settee and my son used that instead. there are two pools beside each other, one was freezing, but the other was heated, both salt water but this was ok. The pool area was spotlessly clean and we had no trouble getting sunbeds or brollys. the views from most of the rooms, pool area and dining room is over the sea and what a view! there is a huge foyer on two floors which is very impressive and comfy so you can relax inside at night. the entertainment staff were the hardest working i have seen and the children were well entertained. the night time entertainment we only attended twice and on each occasion thought the staff did a really good job, but just too many children running around, but c'est la vie, it wasnt a big deal. Think this is a fabulous place for everyone, except maybe too quiet for younger teenagers. All in all a really comfy and pleasant stay, all the staff were friendly and helpful and i would highly recommend it. Nearly forgot - you can get a punto for sixty quid for three days at the car hire place above the shop in the small shopping area which is five mins walk from the hotel. sori cant remember the name of it!
